Working in partnership with Stebbins IRA, local contractor Tapraq Rock is building a new subdivision and constructing homes, relieving the housing shortage that results in overcrowding of homes and residents moving out of the community.

Subdivision construction is complete, and the building supplies arrived two weeks ago by barge. Work is being performed simultaneously on the homes by several Tapraq crews in order to finish the homes as soon as possible. This was an opportunity to increase the size of our local workforce and provide training to new employees.

Building homes in the village instead of shipping in prefab homes allows a better floor plan, greater energy efficiency, and keeps construction wages in the community.
This year’s project is a continuation of a long-term housing development plan that has some residents already living in previously constructed homes and duplexes and showcases Stebbin’s self-sufficiency.
The goal is to turn finished homes over to the IRA for residents to move in at the earliest possible date.
